Healthy Lifestyle Mobile Unit Project (NRF)

The Mobile Unit is one of three Neighbourhood Renewal funded (NRF) initiatives to encourage people to stop smoking. The mobile unit has been developed because it targets those groups of people and areas in Sandwell who do not access stop smoking services as much as others - for example young people, people who live in certain wards, people from BME communities. The programme is funded by NRF until March 2008. The NRF programme funds interventions which are proven to increase life expectancy for people - we know that people who smoke die earlier from smoking related diseases.

This project aims to act as a point of referral and with the aid of a mobile unit attract people to the trailer which can be located in many places including shopping centres, events and local business parks throughout Sandwell. Although the project has a current remit for stop smoking it welcomes all health material and resources from all health related areas and is a great opportunity to promote other services and increase referrals generically.
