Sandwell NHS PCTs Stop Smoking Service & Pharmacies
Sandwell NHS PCTs Stop Smoking Service aims to continually improve & develop its services and strive to increasingly train appropriate heath care personnel in the Borough to provide Stop Smoking Services that are accessible to the population of Sandwell.
Training for Local Community Pharmacy Staff in Sandwell
In 2006 one way of increasing the accessibility of Stop Smoking Services in the Borough was to work with the local community pharmacies, and to begin to offer and provide pharmacists and their teams with a comprehensive training programme. Currently (September 2007) 25 pharmacies have staff that are fully trained, and are actively providing a comprehensive Stop Smoking Service supported by the Sandwell Stop Smoking Service & the Specialist Nurse Advisor team. Several other pharmacies are in the process of completing their training. Pharmacies delivering Stop Smoking Services offer confidential 1- to-1 stop smoking sessions, and treatments are in line with current NHS guidelines.

Sandwell Stop Smoking Service is also continually developing its service delivery and pharmacy related protocols to help ensure the most appropriate, evidence based and current treatment is provided for its client group.
